The Meadowlands Commission is pleased to announce two guided Harrier Meadow walks for December, on Wednesday Dec. 3 and Wednesday Dec. 10 – both at 9 a.m.

The walks will be led by NJMC Naturalist Michael Newhouse. We hope to see Snow Buntings and all sorts of waterfowl and raptors, including Rough-legged Hawks and possibly Bald Eagles.

IMG_6943      We suggest dressing for the weather – which could mean cold temperatures and strong breezes.

If you are interested in joining us on either walk, please e-mail us here. We limit the number of people on these walks so that everyone stays involved and side chatter is minimal. Signups are on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are bringing others, please let us know in advance.

We will post something on the upcoming walks on our nature blog, meadowblog.net, on Wednesday. Any late cancellations will be posted on the blog as well.

No smoking is permitted in Harrier Meadow, and you will be asked to sign a standard liability release as the 70-acre site is not open to the public.

Hope to see you in December.
