November Walks

The Meadowlands Commission and Bergen County Audubon Society are sponsoring two walks in November — to Harrier Meadow on Sunday, Nov. 6, and to Mill Creek Marsh on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Both walks are at 10 a.m.

The Harrier Meadow walk will also include looking for raptors along nearby Disposal Road.

Who knows? Maybe we'll one of those Bald Eagles.

First-Sunday-of-the-Month Nature Walk with the NJMC and BCAS
This free two-hour guided nature walk will take us to the legendary Harrier Meadow  in North Arlington. The 70-acre site, usually off limits to the public, features ponds and tidal impoundments and birds aplenty.  Last November’s walk highlights included two Bald Eagles. We meet at 10 a.m. at the entrance to Harrier Meadow on Disposal Road. You can also meet us at the visitors’ parking lot at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst at 9:40 a.m. and carpool. The walk is run by the N.J. Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society. Check meadowblog.net for last-minute updates and weather advisories. You will have to sign a standard liability release for 2011 if you haven't already. To rsvp, contact Don Torino of the BCAS at greatauk4@aol.com or 201-230-4983.
