Our next free guided walk is next Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Losen Slote Park in Little Ferry.
This park is particularly beautiful in fall, and you never know what migrating birds we might see. Wear boots if you got 'em — the trails can sometimes be muddy.
An early post about the park is here.
A list of birds we saw on our walk last Ocober in Losen Slote is here.
Full listing follows.
This bird was banded by our crack NJMC team last month by the former Erie Landfill.
Other views follow. What is it?
Mark Renna of Evergreen Environmental writes: "NJ Audubon was out monitoring our site in Carlstadt recently for their heron study. I climbed the tank and took some pictures from a unique vantage point in the early stages of a marsh restoration project."
Thanks, Mark! A couple of NJMC staffers were at the site around that time and saw 10 Ospreys, five Great Blue Herons and a nice assortment of egrets — a great location for birds migrating down the flyway.
