Ron Shields writes: "Included some images from a [late September] trip into the Kearny Marsh.
"I still found several flocks of Pectoral Sandpipers along with numerous Great Blue Herons and several Green Herons.
"The highlight of the trip was a flyover American Bittern which I was unable to photograph. (Darn you, Ron!)
"A lone Osprey hunted the eastern edge of the marsh parallel to the turnpike while Wood Ducks and Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal rested and fed in quiet water. Great Egrets were extremely approachable." (Thanks, Ron!)

Pine Siskins are being seen in good numbers all over the state these days.
Chris Takacs passed along this Pine Siskin photo and writes: "Just wanted to add The Meadowlands Siskins into the conversation.
"60+ Pine Siskins were seen Saturday on Disposal Road in the wild sunflower. 2 Dozen were seen in Harrier Meadow Monday. Tuesday 200+ were seen in various-sized flocks on the Erie landfill and in Harrier Meadow." (Thanks, Chris!)
