The Meadowlands Commission and Bergen County Audubon Society are conducting two more Harrier Meadow cleanups this month — this Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 30, from 10 a.m. to noon.

In the four cleanups thus far, we have had a combined total of 127 volunteers contributing 254 hours. Your efforts have helped to reopen Mill Creek Marsh’s trail system and parts of DeKorte Park.  Thank you!

More information on Harrier Meadow is here.

Info on this Saturday's cleanup follows.

Harrier Meadow Cleanup with the NJMC and BCAS
Saturday, Dec. 8, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

We will clean up several trails, picking up trash and recyclables. Participants must wear work gloves and protective clothing and footwear and sign a liability release (available Saturday, or download in the upper left-hand corner of the Meadowlands Nature Blog, www.meadowblog.net). Directions to Harrier Meadow are on the blog, left-hand column.  The Meadowlands Commission is providing coffee and doughnuts to volunteers. Syncsort of Woodcliff Lake is planning to send employees to help out. Participants must be at least 16 years old; 16- and 17-year-old participants must have the liability release signed by a parent or guardian. If you would like to receive email notifications of future cleanups, or get more information, please contact the NJMC’s Jim Wright at jim.wright@njmeadowlands.gov. Also email Jim if you plan to participate so that he can plan accordingly.
