Rare Bird: Prothonotary Warbler Banded Today

DSCN8295Mike Newhouse and his awesome band of bird-banders had their “bird of the year” this morning — a Prothonotary Warbler. We were on hand to take photos. These birds are even more beautiful up-close, if that is possible.

The bird, typically found to the south and near wooded marshes, is a first reported in the Meadowlands District to our knowledge — and certainly the first that Mike and his team have banded.  (Thanks, Mike!)

Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess
I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any points for first-time blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.
