Due to forecasted inclement weather, tonight’s (Sept. 14) open public viewing session at the William D. McDowell Observatory in DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst has been cancelled. The next open public viewing night is Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 8 to 10:30 pm
While we welcome September, we’re also looking forward to next month, when renowned birding author David Sibley will give a special presentation on birding right here at the Meadowlands Environment Center in DeKorte Park on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7 pm. This can’t-miss event is presented by the Bergen County Audubon Society as part of Its 75th Anniversary Celebration
The second editions of Sibley’s Field Guides to the Birds of Eastern and Western North American were published in March. Sibley has also authored guides to Bird Life & Behavior, an overall guide to birds, and birding basics. His books will be available for purchase and signing.
