Kestrel Continues on Disposal Road

IMG_0581We have been seeing this American Kestrel fairly regularly along Disposal Road. The small falcon is a bird of special concern in New Jersey and elsewhere in the Northeast because of dwindling populations.

We have seen a small falcon like bird in flight, but could never see it with its full markings with the proper support of the sun–always directly into the bright orb. Glimpses of similar coloration to Jim’s nice photo have been noted, however. Does this little beauty have a rather jerky flight pattern at times . . . when not in full speed mode?
