This year’s Birding Festival promises an engaging and educational day of guided bird walks, talks and presentations. The event is 8:30 am to 3 pm, with an early bird walk at 7 am. There will also be a live raptor show, children’s activities, and music and information tables as we explore the Meadowlands amazing avian species. This year’s Keynote Speaker is Dr. Jill Deppe, Senior Director of the Migratory Bird Initiative at the National Audubon Society.

On Sunday, Sept. 3, they will be at Harrier Meadow in North Arlington for a special walk through this beautiful site that is normally closed to the public. The walk goes from 10 am to noon. Harrier Meadow is located off Disposal Road, North Arlington.

Then, head out to DeKorte Park for an evening walk on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Keep your eyes peeled for migrant wading birds, shorebirds, warblers and more. The walk is from 6 pm to 8 pm and meets outside the Meadowlands Environment Center, 2 DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst.
