Forecast Good for Sunday’s Disposal Road Walk

The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies Sunday morning, so make sure to join the Bergen County Audubon Society for a free guided nature walk along Disposal Road in North Arlington from 10 am to noon. Reminder: Richard Crossley This Thursday!

It’s not too late to sign up for Thursday’s talk by internationally acclaimed birding field guide author Richard Crossley at the Meadowlands Environment Center, from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is presented by the Bergen County Audubon Society as part of its 75th anniversary.

Crossley’s free talk, “Past, Present and Future,” will give insights learned from growing up in the wild British birding scene and travels around the world to living in Japan and settling down for good in the birding utopia of Cape May. He will also give his thoughts about the “Crossley ID Guide” series and sign copies of his books.

Richard Crossley is a renowned birder, photographer and the award winning author of “The Crossley ID Guide” series. Don Torino’s Life in the Meadowlands: Taking Time for Some Thanks

Anyone who works, volunteers or cares about our environment knows how difficult it can be at times. One battle ends another continues and at times there are so many imminent issues that you cannot decide where to begin.

Unawareness, indifference and human greed towards the environment can make the most enthusiastic lover of the earth throw in the towel and look for another line of work. But many times, just when you think you’ve  just about had enough and it’s time to throw in the towel there is something special that happens, an experience that rises up to remind us we owe many people countless thanks for helping our environment.
