Strawberry Moon In Full Effect

Bob Laura, Director of the William D. McDowell Observatory, captured this photo of the Strawberry Moon framed by the Manhattan Skyline last night (Wednesday, June 11). The photo was taken from the NJSEA World Trade Center Memorial Cove during the weekly Observatory Public Viewing Session.

Contrary to popular belief, the Strawberry Moon is named for the beginning of the strawberry harvest season rather than its reddish hue.
