As promised, here’s the second batch of photos sent by Mickey Raine from this past weekend placing the spotlight on Forster’s Terns at DeKorte. Great shots here!

Due to cloud cover, tonight’s (April 26) viewing session at the William D. McDowell Observatory in DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst has been cancelled. The next open public viewing night is Wednesday, May 3, from 8 to 10:30 pm

We’ll turn our attention to Forster’s Terns today. Mickey Raine got a bunch of great shots of the migratory birds at DeKorte this past Sunday. Mickey writes: THE FAMILIAR LOUD GROUP YAPPING SOUNDS OF THE FORSTER’S TERNS IS ALWAYS A WELCOMING ONE, FOR IT IS A REMINDER OF MORE WARM WEATHER BIRDS TO ARRIVE SOON. 

He’s right about the warmer weather arriving soon. Temps this weekend are supposed to be in the low to mid-80s!

The Bergen County Audubon Society is leading a walk and cleanup at Losen Slote Creek Park in Little Ferry on Sunday, May 7, letting you enjoy the park’s natural beauty while acting as a steward for the park’s upkeep!

Losen Slote is one of the last upland forests in the Meadowlands and a great spot for bird watching and enjoying nature at its best. The walk is from 8:30 to 10:30 am, followed by the cleanup. Please bring your own work gloves.
