This Morning’s Harrier Walk

Thanks to the three dozen people who came out for this morning’s walk at Harrier Meadow! Highlights included Blue-winged teal, American Kestrels and hundreds of Yellowlegs. Pictures to come.

If you missed today’s chance to explore Harrier, a beautiful natural area normally closed to the public, the next BCAS guided walk there is Sunday, June 4, from 10 am to noon.

Our next scheduled walk is Sunday May 7 at Losen Slote Creek Park in Little Ferry, one of the last remaining upland forests in the Meadowlands. The walk is from 10 am to noon. For more info email greatauk4@gmail.com or call 201-230-4983.

Snow Goose On the Ground

A migratory snow goose is more likely to be seen flying above DeKorte Park than settling on the ground. But this guy, who has been seen since Thursday at various Meadowlands locations, seems to have taken a liking to terra firma. Thanks to Dennis Cheeseman for this photo taken at DeKorte yesterday.
