We have a great schedule for this Sunday's Butterfly Day at DeKorte  — with walks, talks, activities for kids and great door prizes. It's perfect for families, and it's free.
   The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Just bring your own lunch and beverages.
   The event is sponsored by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission, the Bergen County Audubon Society and the Northern NJ Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association.

Guided Butterfly Walk

Looking for butterflies and moths near the MEC and environs.

Northern N.J. Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association (25 minutes). Leaves from the front of the MEC.

Scavenger Hunt with prizes, for kids of all ages

 

11 a.m., Noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m.

Drawing for nifty door prizes  (You do not have to be present to win but must collect your prize by day's end or pick it up later)

Butterfly-friendly Plants Walk

Led by Botanist Edith Wallace. Leaves from the front of the Meadowlands Environment Center. (25 minutes)

 

Bring your own picnic lunch and cold beverages.
