Dennis Cheeseman was out at DeKorte early this morning. If his photos are any indication, it’s going to be a good day for birding! He sent photos of Double-crested Cormorants, Egrets and a Northern Cardinal.

BCAS Losen Slote Park Walk This Sunday (Oct.1)!
Join the Bergen County Audubon Society this Sunday, Oct. 1, as they lead a nature walk of Losen Slote Creek Park in Little Ferry. They’ll be looking for Herons Thrushes, Sparrows and other birds of interest. Losen Slote contains one of the last remaining lowland forests in the District.

Five images of monarch butterflies on goldenrod and other marsh shrub blooms taken on a weekend in late September at Mill Creek Marsh in the N. J. Meadowlands.
Thanks to Regina Geoghan for sending in these monarch and bird montages of photos that she took yesterday at Mill Creek Marsh. Regina writes: I was happy to see several fresh and beautiful monarch butterflies on Saturday and again on Sunday. They seem to love the goldenrod. Thanks for sharing Regina!
