NJSEA DRONE POLICY

For the purpose of this policy, an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a “drone” or referred to as a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), is defined by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as “an aircraft without a human pilot “aboard” and is hereinafter referenced as a drone.

The use of drones at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst is limited to the following instances only:

  • Public emergency purposes including but not limited to search and rescue operations by police departments, fire departments and other responder agencies.
  • Scientific research projects undertaken by the Meadowlands Environmental Institute (MERI)
  • Scientific research projects by colleges and universities (upon request).

Thank you for not permitting “civilian” drones at DeKorte! They’re intrusive, bothering visitors and wildlife both, and the park is better of without them.
