Upcoming BCAS Losen Slote Creek Park Programs

The Bergen County Audubon Society will treat visitors to a Losen Slote Creek Park walk in Little Ferry and park lecture this week and next week, respectively.

This Wednesday, Dec. 10, the BCAS leads visitors through Losen Slote, one of the last low-lying forested areas in the Meadowlands. The walk runs from 10 a.m. to noon.

Park and meet in the lot adjacent to the soccer field on Mehrhof Road.

Then, on Monday, Dec. 15, BCAS President Don Torino will give a lecture on the history of the fascinating, 28-acre meadow and wildlife habitat. The Losen Slote Lecture is at noon at the Little Ferry Public Library, located at 239 Liberty Street.

BCAS Announces 2025 Harold Feinberg Conservation Award Winners!

The Bergen County Audubon Society has announced the recipients of its prestigious 2025 Harold Feinberg Conservation Award !

This year’s very well-deserving award winners are Debora Davidson and Karl Soehnlein. Join us for the award presentation at the Meadowlands Eagle Festival on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, at the Meadowlands Environment Center.

About our amazing award-winners

Debora Davidson is the Executive Director of the Tenafly Nature Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting people with nature through education, conservation and community engagement. With more than two decades of experience in environmental education and nonprofit leadership, Debora has been instrumental in expanding the center’s programs, deepening community partnerships and advancing local conservation efforts.

Karl M. Soehnlein has been coordinator of the State Line Hawk Watch since 2011. The important information that Karl and his volunteers acquire is critical to the understanding and future of migratory birds in our region.
