Don Torino’s “The Nature Connection” Premiers Sunday, May 25, on WFDU-FM

WFDU-FM DJ Opie and BCAS President Don Torino

Bergen County Audubon Society President Don Torino will bring nature to the breakfast table with “The Nature Connection,” premiering Sunday, May 25, on WFDU-FM 89.1.

Episodes of the half-hour, pre-recorded segment will see Torino interviewing a host of guests that are connected to nature in many areas. The first program features Dr. Kathleen Farley, executive director of Teaneck Creek Conservancy The show will air on the last Sunday of each month. It will then be archived on the WFDU-FM website.

“You cannot care about nature until you can connect with it,” Torino said in a recent article in the Pascack Press. He also stated that the most critical threat to the environment is a disconnect between people and the natural world around them – thus the show’s name.

The show was inspired by WFDU-FM General Manager and DJ Opie, a frequent participant in BCAS Nature Walks guided by Torino.

“Opie loves birding with us, and she and WFDU have been doing a great job getting the word out about how people can help our birds, butterflies and bees. So we thought the show would help folks enjoy learning more about the natural world that exists right outside their door.”

WFDU-FM is broadcast from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck.
