Drawing Nature Beginner/Refresher Course – For adults and teens
Sketching and drawing are the foundations of visual media. If you’ve never drawn, or if it’s been awhile, this class will begin to unlock the secrets of realistic illustration. Exercises will focus on “seeing” natural objects for their visual components (shape, proportions and values) and using pencil techniques to translate what you see onto paper. Take-home supplies provided. $20/person; $15 MEC members

First-Sunday-of-the-Month Bird Walk with the NJMC and BCAS
By popular demand, we are hosting a Harrier Meadow walk on a weekend. The 70-acre natural area is normally closed to the public, and we never know what amazing birds we might see there – beginning with a Bald Eagle or two and other raptors. Harrier Meadow is on Disposal Road near Schuyler Avenue. The walk is run by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society. Check meadowblog.net for last-minute updates. You will have to sign a standard liability release that is good for NJMC/BCAS events throughout the year. To rsvp, contact Don Torino of the BCAS at greatauk4@aol.com or 201-230-4983.
