Butterfly Day a Rousing Success!!!

Some 1,200 people came out to DeKorte Park for yesterday’s 9th Annual Butterfly Day, easily our biggest and best yet! A huge thank you to everyone who made the day, and the fun, possible: Bergen County Audubon Society, who had tables on both butterflies and bees, led butterfly walks, and gave butterfly talks; NJSEA staff volunteers; Teaneck Creek Conservancy; and the Hudson Woodpile Band.

It was especially great seeing all the kids learn about butterflies and show off their butterfly tattoos!

Check out a story on the event in today’s Record here

We will have lots of photos throughout the day. We’ll start with some iconic monarchs photographed by Tatiana Gomez.

Butterfly Day This Sunday (July 29)!!!

There’s still time to register for this Sunday’s Ninth Annual Butterfly Day co-hosted by the NJSEA and the Bergen County Audubon Society.

The free event at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst  runs from from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day includes butterfly walks, talks, onsite experts to help identify the various butterflies, free milkweed plants (while supplies last) and  activities for children, including a scavenger hunt, face painting, and a butterfly costume contest for those 12 and under. The forecast looks great too! Hope to see you on Sunday.
