Ridgefield Mother’s Day Walk: The Full List
The Sixth Annual Mother’s Day Bird Walk in Ridgefield turned out great — fine weather and a strong turnout by both people and birds.
Highlights included appearances by Redstarts, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Ovenbirds, Ms. New York (you can’t make this stuff up), and a giant squirrel.

A Colorful Ridgefield Mother’s Day Walk
Wonderful walk this morning in Ridgefield. More than 30 great folks and more than 50 incredible (and incredibly colorful) bird species.

Amazing Midge Shots
Marco Van Brabant shared some Midge shots with us. Just a reminder that Midges do not bite, and they provide great meals on the go for migratory birds and our local swallows and other birds.

Today, the prize-winning Meadowlands Marsh Hawks go for their third World Series of Birding title in a row against some strong competition.

WarblerMania at DeKorte’s Lyndhurst Nature Reserve
The lighting stinks for photography and the birds are neck breakers but so many species of warblers and at least three Scarlet Tanagers.
Warblers included Black-and-whites, a Magnolia, a Chestnut-sided, and a Common Yellowthroat.
Saw a Baltimore Oriole on our way out as the icing on the cake.
DeKorte Park Restrooms on Weekends
If you need to use a restroom at DeKorte on the weekend, please be aware that the restrooms in the Meadowlands Environment Center are now open for 15 minutes every hour, at the top of the hour, from 8 a.m. to dusk. Just something to keep in mind when you visit….
