A Clay-colored Sparrow was reported at DeKorte behind the McDowell Observatory on eBird yesterday, and two were banded yesterday at the nearby Harrier Meadow/Erie landfill banding station.
A photo of one of the banded CC Sparrow is above.
More on the bird here.
That is a great bird ! hopefully they will be around for Tuesdays walk
Can someone please ID the sparrow like birds that are feeding along the edges of the Transco Trail? They also seem to like the willow tree. They have a patch of yellowish/cream on their sides with a few streaks on their breasts, yellow or cream rumps and show whitish edges on their tails in flight.
pat, sounds like yellow-rumped warblers to me. 🙂
