There’s a lot out there! It’s a great time to be birding in the Meadowlands. 🙂
I had 2 snowy egrets, 2 greater scaup, and a red-breasted merg. swimming with a female common merg. recently, too.
The scaup really threw me off.. I went back and forth between lesser and greater a million times. What marks helped you to determine?
The differences are really subtle … check this link … it may help: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Greater_Scaup/id
