Thanks to the nature enthusiasts who attended yesterday’s Bergen County Audubon Society DeKorte Park Nature Walk, and to Joe Koscielny for these great pics! The American White Pelican was the highlight of a walk in which participants saw many species. American White Pelicans are seldomly seen in the Meadowlands, and this one has been spotted over the past two weeks.
Some have taken to calling the Pelican George, after the one that was spotted at DeKorte and surrounding environs for more than three months back in 2014, though there’s no way to tell if it’s the same bird.
