Information tables on Gardening for Butterflies, Butterfly Identification, and more, with plenty of free brochures, plus coloring book activities for kids. Bergen County Audubon Society.

Introduction to DeKorte Butterflies, Visitor Center inside the MEC. Talk and slide show. N.J. Meadowlands Commission, 10-15 minutes
10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 pm.
Guided Butterfly Walk, Looking for butterflies and moths near the MEC and environs.Northern N.J. Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association (25 minutes). Leaves from the front of the MEC.
10:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m.
Scavenger Hunt with prizes, for kids of all ages. Start outside the MEC.
11 a.m., Noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m.
Drawing for two NJMC pontoon boat cruises on the Hackensack River (You do not have to be present to win but must collect your prize by day's end or pick it up later).
11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m.
Butterfly-friendly Plants Walk, Led by Botanist Edith Wallace. Leaves from the front of the Meadowlands Environment Center. (25 minutes)
Note: Bring your own picnic lunch and cold beverages. Bug spray and a bottle of water are highly recommended.
