Dale Jankowski took the above distant shot of an adult Bald Eagle perched along the Transco Trail on Wednesday around 8 a.m.
Let's hope this beauty makes an appearance or two during this weekend's Meadowlands Festival of Birding! (Thanks, Dale!)
We continue to get good butterflies at DeKorte, including the Question Mark above, photographed yesterday along with many other species, including the Eastern Tailed Blue at left.
We say this as a reminder that Meadowlands Festival of Birding on Saturday includes a Butterfly walk at DeKorte from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
To give you an idea of what has been around: Vinny Corsello of the North Jersey Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association visitied DeKorte on Aug. 29 and came up with 21 species.
Full list follows. (Thanks, Vinny!)
Earlier this week, we reached our 300,000th page view in just over three years.
That's not too bad for a blog that simply celebrates nature within a 30.4-square-mile area that many people gave up for gone not that long ago.
We hit 100,000 views in December 2009, and 200,000 views last November.
We'd like to thank everyone for making this blog a success.
