Free Public Viewing Nights at the William D. McDowell Observatory
Monday and Wednesday (Science Center)
The William D. McDowell Observatory is open to the public for free stargazing on Monday and Wednesday evenings year-round, weather permitting. For more information on the observatory and the Meadowlands Environment Center’s astronomy programs, call 201-460-8300 or visit www.njmeadowlands.gov/ec. All ages, children must be accompanied by an adult. Note: You must be able to climb 25 stairs to the observatory. First-come, first-served.

Fifth Annual “Super Bird Sunday” Nature Walk with the NJMC and BCAS
This free two-hour nature walk starts at the entrance to Losen Slote Creek Park in Little Ferry. The walk features great prizes awarded to any participant who is the first to spot a bird that has the same name as an NFL team – raven, falcon, eagle, cardinal, etc. The walk is run by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society. Check meadowblog.net for last-minute weather updates. You will have to sign a standard liability release that is good for NJMC/BCAS events throughout the year.
