Great story in The Record about yesterday’s rally for everyone’s favorite local Bald Eagles, Al and Alice. Some 60 people gathered to observe the pair and their eaglets, who nest in a Cottonwood Tree in Ridgefield Park across Overpeck Creek from Ridgefield. Photos of Al and Alice’s offspring below are appropriately by Alice’s namesake, Alice Leurck, who in 2010 took the first photo of Alice the Eagle.

Bearing Frigid Temps for Great Photos

A hearty Mickey Raine beared the frigid temps on Saturday and Sunday to venture out to Mill Creek Marsh and DeKorte Park and the trips were well worth it. Mickey captured some stunning scenery and willdlife shots. We’ll start with the Saturday photos.

Mickey writes:

AS FRIGID AND STINGING AS THE RAPIDLY FALLING SNOW WAS–LIKE LITTLE NEEDLES AT FOR MUCH OF THE TIME–IT WAS SO INVIGORATING . . . AND THE WINTER LANDSCAPE (WINTERSCAPE) WAS SIMPLY AMAZING AT BOTH SITES.  THERE WAS A CONSTANT FILM IN THE AIR FROM THE SWIRLING SNOWFLAKES AND ABSOLUTELY NO REGULAR SUNLIGHT, BUT THAT WAS JUST FINE.  IT IS WHAT MAKES THESEASONAL CHANGES FASCINATING AND BEAUTIFUL IN DIFFERENT WAYS.
