Many thanks to Joe Koscielny for these excellent photos taken during yesterday’s Bergen County Audubon Society guided walk at DeKorte Park, including those now-omnipresent Bald Eagles. We’ll have more from Joe before the end of the day, so stay tuned!
Riding the NJ Transit train through the neighborhood of DeKorte Park I saw several large herons on an ice-covered drainage ditch adjacent to the tracks. I did not think Great Blue Herons wintered this far north. What other herons could still be here at this time of year? Thank you!
