Third Tuesday Walk: Now at Laurel Hill

DSCN2109-001Due to continuing cleanup efforts at Mill Creek Marsh, we are moving tomorrow's Third Tuesday walk to Laurel Hill County Park in Secaucus.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon. We'll all park near the ballfields "under" the cliffs. Directions are in the left-hand column of this blog.

A recent scouting trip yielded 16 Brant (above), three Red-tails, a Northern Harrier, plenty of gulls and Double-crested Cormorants, and a zillion Grackles and dark-eyed Juncos.

(We thank the Hudson County Parks Department for letting us use the park on short notice!)

Details follow.

Third-Tuesday-of-the-Month Nature Walk  with the NJMC and BCAS
Because of Hurricane Sandy, this month’s walk has been moved to Laurel Hill County Park in Secaucus. We’ll look for ravens, raptors, waterfowl on the Hackensack River, and any other birds we can find. We’ll meet at the big parking lot by the Laurel Hill ball fields at 10 a.m.  The walk is run by the N.J. Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society. Check meadowblog.net for directions and  last-minute weather updates. You will have to sign a standard liability release that is good for NJMC/BCAS events throughout the year. To rsvp, contact Don Torino of the BCAS at greatauk4@aol.com or 201-230-4983.
