Due to construction work on Disposal Road, as well as trail conditions at Harrier Meadow, we’ve decided to move this Tuesday’s walk to DeKorte Park. Apologies for the late notice.
Please meet in the Environment Center parking lot at 10. And please pass this information on to anyone you think might be coming.
Call Lisa at NJMC (201-460-4658) or Don at BCAS (201-230-4983) with questions.
It could be muddy, so pull on your Wellies for this 2-hour nature walk hosted by the Bergen County Audubon Society and the NJMC this coming Tuesday, March 17th.
Because of construction activity on Disposal Road, please enter from Schuyler Avenue and take extra caution when driving and parking. Please consider car-pooling if possible. Meet at 10:00 in the area outside the Harrier gate. Do not block construction traffic.
FREE this Friday – February 13th, 10-noon, at DeKorte Park. Co-sponsored by the Bergen County Audubon Society and the NJMC. Please RSVP to Don Torino of BCAS at email@example.com or 201-230-4983.
Visit Audubon’s national Backyard Bird Count page for info about the event.
Thanks to Mickey and Elaine Raine for the Great Blue Heron photo, taken at Mill Creek Marsh in Secaucus last month.
Taken on our Super Bird Sunday walk by Joseph Koscielny. Thanks Joe, for the photo and Don Torino for the share.
Is this what they call Tuesday-morning quarterbacking? We’re happy to report that 30 people attended our 6th Annual Super Bird Sunday walk. Prizes were awarded to the first birder to sight a species that has an NFL team named after it.
Don Torino reports: “We had 30 enthusiastic people join us for Super Bird Sunday, although birding was slower than normal because of the water being frozen. We did get to enjoy three adult bald eagles as well as one immature bird. A Red-Shouldered Hawk gave the folks a thrill as it flew over us on Disposal Road. We also had three lucky prize winners: NJMC tee-shirts and a hat were awarded for sightings of an EAGLE, a CARDINAL and a Green Bay Wood-PACKER!
