Finally photographed the male Belted Kingfisher who has been zipping around the Shorebird Pool. The white spot in front of the eye is really distinctive on this bird.

Finally photographed the male Belted Kingfisher who has been zipping around the Shorebird Pool. The white spot in front of the eye is really distinctive on this bird.
Tough shot to get! They are so elusive and easily spooked. What kind of lens did you use to get this shot? I am guessing at least 500mm!
I know this guy, since I have been stalking him along the north side of the shorebird pool for a couple of months now. I was able to get close enough to study him at length (without his seeing me) exactly once. 🙂
