With our partners the Bergen County Audubon Society, we are holding three walks, a talk and slide show on "Birds of the Meadowlands" by the NJMC's Jim Wright (who keeps this blog), and a birding for beginners course.

First-Sunday-of-the-Month Bird Walk with the NJMC and BCAS
This free two-hour nature walk starts at the entrance to Losen Slote Creek Marsh in Little Ferry. We’ll look for spring arrivals and waterfowl. The walk is run by the N.J. Third-Tuesday-of-the-Month Bird Walk with the NJMC and BCAS
This free two-hour guided nature walk will take us to the legendary Harrier Meadow in North Arlington. The 70-acre site, usually off limits to the public, features ponds and tidal impoundments and birds aplenty – including a bird-banding demonstration. We meet at 10 a.m. at the entrance to Harrier Meadow on Disposal Road. You can also meet us at the visitors’ parking lot at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst at 9:30 a.m. and we can carpool. ‘Birds of the Meadowlands’ Talk
Jim Wright, who keeps this blog for the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission, will present a free talk and slide show on the birds of the Meadowlands as part of the Bergen County Audubon Society’s monthly meeting, which will take place at the Meadowlands Environment Center in DeKorte Park. The talk will feature some unusual and once-endangered birds, along with some nifty color photos that Jim has taken in the Meadowlands in the past three years. Jim will also include photos of other critters he has seen along the river and its marshes — from Diamondback Terrapins to Fiddler Crabs. Earth Day Bird Walk with the NJMC and BCAS
This free two-hour nature walk is part of the Meadowlands Commission’s Earth Day celebration at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst. The walk starts outside the Meadowlands Environment Center, and runs from 10 a.m. We’ll walk around the square-mile park, looking for spring arrivals and other birds. The walk is run by the N.J.
