Don’t Forget: Free Guided DeKorte Walk Tomorrow

GBBC JW

The Meadowlands Commission and Bergen County Audubon Society are offering a free guided bird walk at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) in DeKorte Park.

We’re doing the 90-minute walk in conjunction with the Great Backyard Bird Count, so we’ll try count every bird we see.

We hope to get an unusual bird or two along the way — from American Bittern to Orange-crowned Warbler.

Meet inside the Meadowlands Environment Center.  Dress for the weather.

Full details follow.

Bonus Event: Great Backyard Bird Count Walk, DeKorte Park
Participate in the annual Great Backyard Bird Count by joining this 90-minute guided walk around DeKorte Park. We’ll keep track of the number of species we see, and the totals for each of those species, and send them into the event organizers, Audubon and the Cornell Lab or Ornithology. This free family-friendly event is sponsored by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission and Bergen County Audubon Society. Check meadowblog.net for last-minute weather updates. You will have to sign a standard liability release that is good for NJMC/BCAS events throughout the year. To rsvp, contact Don Torino of the BCAS at greatauk4@aol.com or 201-230-4983.
