Our next two walks are certified crowd-pleasers.
* Our fourth annual Mother's Day walk in Ridgefield features a nature tour of the 5.4-acre Ridgefield Nature Center, the nearby community gardens, a stop to see the Monk Parakeets (above), and a visit to the Skeetkill Creek Marsh.
* On Tuesday, may 15, we visit the Mill Creek Marsh in Secaucus, then drive to Laurel Hill County Park for lunch and a look for the ravens.

Special fourth annual Mother’s Day Walk
The free two-hour event begins at the Ridgefield Nature Center in Ridgefield and features a walk around the 5.4-acre nature center (once the site of the spring water for the Great Bear Bottled Water Co.), and a visit to Skeetkill Creek Marsh in Ridgefield, with a stop to see the Monk Parakeets on the way. We’ll meet at the Ridgefield Nature Center at 10 a.m. (directions are on meadowblog.net in the left-hand column). The walk is run by the N.J. Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society. Check meadowblog.net for last-minute weather updates. Third-Tuesday-of-the-Month Bird Walk with the NJMC and BCAS
This free two-hour walk showcases Mill Creek Marsh in Secaucus. We’ll meet at Mill Creek Marsh at 10 a.m. (directions are on meadowblog.net in the left-hand column), or you can also meet us at the visitors’ parking lot at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst by 9:30 a.m. and we can carpool. As a bonus, we are sponsoring an optional lunchtime walk at historic Laurel Hill County Park in Secaucus, in hopes of seeing the Common Ravens. (BYOL – bring your own lunch.)
