Tuesday’s Free Walk: Laurel Hill
Our next free walk is tomorrow — Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at Laurel Hill County Park in Secaucus, adjacent to the Hackensack River.
Last year’s January Laurel Hill walk produced Horned Larks, roughly 30 roosting Black-crowned Night Herons and a dogfight between a Peregrine and a Red-tail.
A quick scouting trip on Friday yielded no Horned Larks or neighboring Common Ravens, but we did see a Bald Eagle, a Peregrine (still on the Osprey Nest on the old Swing Bridge), an American Kestrel and lots of cormorants.
Here’s a link to the full list from last January’s Laurel Hill walk.
Details and pix of kestrel and Peregrine follow.
