Our next walk is a doozy — our fifth annual Super Bird Sunday walk at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, the same day as that big game at MetLife Stadium.
This time we are having the event at Losen Slote Creek Park in an effort to stay as far away from the Meadowlands Sports Complex as possible.
This Super Bird Sunday V, and we will be offering prizes to the first folks who identify a bird that is named after an NFL team (or more likely, vice versa!)…
Directions to Losen Slote can be found on the right-hand column of this blog.

Fifth Annual “Super Bird Sunday” Nature Walk with the NJMC and BCAS
This free two-hour nature walk starts at the entrance to Losen Slote Creek Park in Little Ferry. The walk features great prizes awarded to any participant who is the first to spot a bird that has the same name as an NFL team – raven, falcon, eagle, cardinal, (wood)packer and seahawk (osprey, but good luck on that one). The walk is run by the N.J. Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society. Check meadowblog.net for last-minute weather updates. You will have to sign a standard liability release that is good for NJMC/BCAS events throughout the year. To rsvp, contact Don Torino of the BCAS at greatauk4@aol.com or 201-230-4983.
