The Meadowlands Commission and the Meadowlands Environment Center have some great May events lined up — including four free bird walks, a scavenger hunt and a mud marathon.
The Meadowlands Commission are done in a partnership with the Bergen County Audubon Society.

This free two-hour nature walk starts at the entrance to Losen Slote Creek Park in Little Ferry. We’ll get a jump on looking for warblers and other spring arrivals– and pick up any litter we find along the way. The walk is run by the N.J. The free two-hour event begins at the Ridgefield Nature Center in Ridgefield and features a walk around the 5.4-acre natural area (once the home of the Great Bear Bottled Water Co.), and a visit to Skeetkill Creek Marsh in Ridgefield, with a stop to see Monk Parakeets on the way. DeKorte Park Scavenger Hunt – All ages
How well do you know the Meadowlands? Bring a digital or cell-phone camera and find out while on the move in this new family/group competition! Starting with a map and mission pack, your team will follow clues around our park to find objects or picture stations. Awards for age group winners.
