Our next free guided walk is Sunday at 10 a.m. at the 28-acre Losen Slote Park in Little Ferry. It should be prime time for arriving warblers and other spring migrants. The walk is sponsored by the Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society. More on Losen Slote here.
Info on the walk follows.
Ron Shields took these pheasant shots in the past week. He writes:
"Here's some images of the mister and missus that have been squawking it up on the Erie Landfill this past week.
"The male was especially vocal [Sunday]!"
As promised, here's a full list of bird species seen during the 2nd annual Earth Day walk at DeKorte Park.
As we were starting, we had an Osprey fly with a fish over the parking lot. Not a bad start. Tree Swallows were everywhere. By walk's end, we had 50 species.
All in all, a great day, and a great day to be outside.
