We saw the American Bittern from DeKorte Park's Marsh Discovery Trail at 2:30 Friday afternoon. Map shows approximate location at the time. Photos below give you an idea of what to look for.
Needle in haystack, or bittern in a Phragmites stack? (Thanks to all who helped find this bird…!)
American Bittern photos are always a bit “Where’s Waldo?” This one’s no different. It took me a couple a seconds. Plus, there could be a least bittern (3 Ft. down the line to the right) there too. My eye actually went to this decoy phragmite first. Anyone else see it?
