Just a reminder that the deadline to enter the “When Will George the Pelican Leave?” contest is today (Friday) at noon.

The pelican has been here so long — since July 6 — that we are now on a first-name basis.

And yes, George has already been seen today.

He has been  hanging out on the Saw Mill Creek mudflats at DeKorte, though he occasionally tries to get takeout sushi at the Kearny Marsh, where Ron Shields took this photo. Otherwise you’d almost never be able to get this close. (Thanks, Ron!)
