This weekend is our 2nd annual free Nature Walk with the incomparable Edith Wallace at DeKorte from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., followed by our free Butterflies for Beginners class and walk at 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at DeKorte.
Both events are sponsored by the Meadowlands Commission and Bergen County Audubon.
Speaking of butterflies, on Friday we had a Black Swallowtail, Siver-spotted Skippers, Painted Lady, Orange Sulfur and Cabbage White in the Salvia in the far parking lot at DeKorte.
Dennis Cheeseman photographed this banded Tree Swallow on the Marsh Discovery Trail yesterday. Looks like an NJMC banding project bird to us, but what do we know?
Spectacular photos of Bald Eagles, owls, hawks and other wildlife will be on display at the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) Flyway Gallery during June and July.
The exhibit, “Herb Houghton Wildlife Photography,” runs from today (Monday, June 6) through Friday, July 29.
A reception for the artist is scheduled for Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Houghton has photographed hundreds of species of birds, butterflies, mammals and marine life up and down the East Coast and in Mexico.
His Flyway Gallery show features stunning photographs of Bald Eagles in mid-flight and Snowy Owls (above) and Black Skimmers skimming waterways in search of prey.
