A Great Walk This Morning!

Thanks to the two dozen folks who joined the Meadowlands Commission and Bergen County Audubon Society on our First Sunday of the Month walk at  Laurel Hill — topped off by looks at the American Avocet at Harrier Meadow.

What an unbelieveable day, beginning with a stream of IMG_8911Northern Flickers that totaled more than 100, endless migrating Monarchs (above), a Snow Goose found by Julie McCall, at least seven Bald Eagles, two Common Ravens, a few Peregrines (including the one at left), an American Kestrel, Lots of egrets, yellowlegs … well, you get the idea.

We'll post a full list later this week.

Ray Duffy had a Snow Goose at Laurel Hill on 9/22. If it’s the same one – I would assume that it is – that’s 10 days… Maybe it will go for the Avocet’s record? 😉
